Tactics to beat GGG - Brook's Game Plan

What does Brook need to do to beat GGG?

Here are some simple techniques and strategies Brook needs to use to beat GGG.

#1 Take a knee. When opponents of GGG are hurt, they always get away from set game plans, beginning to trade with the power puncher which nearly always leads to a KO loss. If Brook is hurt, he needs to take an 8 count and calm himself down, ensuring the pace of the fight doesn’t get out of control.

As the fight develops it’s very possible that Brook builds up a lead on the scorecards, however the naturally bigger GGG will likely get stronger as the rounds progress. Brook needs to do anything he possibly can. By Timely spitting out his mouth guard, Brook will gain extra time. This is usually done a few times before points are taken away.

Brook’s corner need to be switched on to. If it gets to round 10 or 11 and the fight is close or if Brook has a lead, they need to let Brook out with lose tape. This will give Brook an extra 10-15 seconds to recover.

Essentially you need to do everything possible to buy time against GGG.  Since Brook has never been put down though, it’s very unlikely he will take an 8 count due to ego. Modern day boxers don’t take 8 counts due to ego.

Brook and his team need to be crafty & they need to implement some veteran tactics.

Brook should also hold GGG and complain to the ref constantly that GGG is the one holding.

Do whatever you need to do to win. And to survive the 12 rounds. Giving yourself the best chance to beat the destructive GGG.

  1. I think Brook also needs to use a lot of clinching, movement and accurate jabbing.

Basically, he needs to channel his inner Bernard Hopkins to win this fight.

  3. Why does this feel like cheating, at least the tape part. The knee, the mouth guard could be about surviving. But if Brook needs to go there, he's likely not winning.
