What's Making Headlines This Week In Boxing?

New Boxing Notes : Early September Headlines

Things are heating up across the boxing world over the past few days.

Seating prices for the Mayweather vs Berto bout which is less than two weeks away have dropped, due to weak demand. This bout could sell out in the days before the fight, but the demand simply isn’t there at the moment. Watching the all access episode was hard enough, the same regurgitated Floyd content was there for all to see. The Berto content was refreshing and he seems like a humble guy.

Paulie Malignaggi will be fighting again on the 26th of September in Italy. This bout will be a 6 round fight and it will give Malignaggi his first chance of fighting in front of his home fans. The fight will take place in Milan. Malignaggi’s family ancestry is from Sicily. Malignaggi spent the first 7 years of his life in Italy and speaks the language perfectly.

Anthony Mundine is fighting American Charles Hatley on the 11th of November in Melbourne. Mundine tried for the big names but his team were given some ludicrous contract offers by Haymon and others. Team Mundine is hoping Hatley brings his best friend Adrien Broner to Australia. The Only problem is, Broner won’t get a visa to enter the country. A win for Mundine will put him closer to fighting for the full 154 pound WBC JMW title, which should be declared vacant in the coming weeks. Mundine is aiming for a bout with Canelo, but it simply won't happen. Well at least not for another year. Expect both Cotto and Canelo to be out of action for a while after their November match up, as the bout will be brutal while it lasts.

Joel Brunker takes on Josh Warrington in Leeds on Saturday night. Brunker is hoping a win can push his career to the next level. In case you missed our interview with Brunker I suggest you take a read. He’s one of the most professional and humble fighters we have been in contact with.

Adrien Broner didn’t say anything at his press conference today for his upcoming 140 pound title bout. The only word Broner did say was offensive and it was in retaliation to Dan Rafael hammering Broner through reporting the truth about how the fight doesn't deserve to be for a title. Weird tactics by Broner, but even without talking he’s generating headlines.

Expect Andre Ward to confirm he will be fighting on the Canelo vs Cotto undercard in the coming days. Both Cotto and Ward are with RocNation sports. Having both stars on the same card brings in more revenue and increases exposure for both, which is win win for RocNation's.
