Huck vs Glowacki & Tarver vs Cunningham : Fight Reporting
In what can only be described as an awesome night of boxing on PBC. Marco Huck’s American debut ended in horror with a shocking 11th round KO upset loss to Krzysztof Glowacki, In what could be a fight of the year contender. American heavyweights Antonio Tarver and Steve Cunningham battled to a draw in what was an entertaining bout between two contenders.
Let’s start with Glowacki vs Huck. Huck was expected to win this one convincingly even though Glowacki was undefeated. As usual with the Polish fighters of this current era they are tough and relentless. Huck started well but he was hurt towards the end of the first round. Glowacki’s pressure was winning Glowacki rounds 2, 3 and 4. Huck seemed a little sluggish and he was looking to land the home run punch all night, which was entertaining to watch. In the 6th round Huck dropped Glowacki for the first time in the Polish fighters career with a looping left hook which he didn’t see. Glowacki had two minutes left in the round to survive and instead of running he stood there and traded with Huck, getting the better of the remaining of the round. That round was my nomination for round of the year so far.
As the fight pushed on I had Huck slightly up on the scorecards, however the tempo of the bout was shifting from one fighter to the other. Huck was trying to land that over hand right and he did at times, hurting Glowacki. However in round 11, as Huck looked like he was coasting to a points decision victory, Glowacki landed a crippling left then straight right. Huck was hurt and he got up at the count of 8 and then Glowacki landed a crippling and brutal combination which left Huck through the ropes. The stoppage was vicious and Huck will need some serious time off to recover, he went to hospital after. Huck’s US debut had quickly turned to horror, however Huck’s stock didn’t drop to much, Glowacki proved himself as an elite cruiserweight tonight.
