New boxing notes covering Andrade, David Price, Chavez Jr & Mundine.

Andrade, David Price, Chavez Jr & Mundine.

There was some solid action this weekend from across the world. With several interesting and entertaining bouts.

Chavez Jr did what he does best. Fighting a totally outmatched and smaller opponent, winning a lopsided decision. Chavez JR was also consistent with his weight, failing to make the agreed limit once again. The result doesn’t matter, Chavez Jr is quickly becoming irrelevant and this could be seen by the boos from his normal loyal fans which accompanied him as he entered the ring.

David Price was just destroyed again in the 2nd round of his bout against undefeated German Erkan Teper. Price looked scared to get hit early on and as a result he wasn’t sitting down on his punches. It seemed like a matter of time before Erkan landed a clean and beautiful left hook. David Price actually wasn’t even looking at the punch when it landed and he was in a bad way for a few minutes after the fight. It’s time to retire for Price, his confidence is gone and he’s no longer relevant even on the European boxing scene.

Abraham looked good winning by TKO over Robert Steiglitz in the 6th round. Abraham dropped his opponent with a jab in the 4th round and he then went on a brutal attack in the 6th round. Brought back memories of the old Abraham.

Demetrius Andrade can claim that Mundine bailed on a fight with him, but that’s far from the truth. The Australian was happy to fight Andrade, however the 2 fight option they wanted on the Australian put the fight to sleep. Considering Mundine is 40 years old and a huge draw in Australia, such options are ludicrous.

Spare a thought for Amir Khan again, despite being highly deserving of the Mayweather bout, he is going to be side stepped. Andre Berto will get the huge pay day.
