Early July Boxing News - Rematches for Floyd vs JMM & Mayorga vs Mosley.

This Weeks Boxing News : Some Crazy Updates In Our Weird Sport

This week there has been a lot of news and I will sum it up quickly.

Shane Mosley and Ricardo Mayorga are having a rematch in late August in Southern California. I don’t care if they’re old, this will be fun. The trash talking will still be there from Mayorga and it should be an entertaining scrap while it lasts. Hopefully it gets TV coverage.

Hearing that Mayweather Jr will boycott fighting Amir Khan. Team Mayweather feel disrespected by Khan’s antics over the past few years. JMM is being sounded out about a rematch. No contact with anyone else thus far it seems.

Demetrius Andrade and Anthony Mundine are likely to fight in early October in Melbourne, Australia. Andrade will be defending his WBO 154 pound title and he hasn’t been able to resist the tempting offer to fight in Australia. Expect US and UK outlets will be interested in broadcasting this.

Jessie Vargas dropped his 140 pound WBA title. Opted not to keep the title and pay $40K. Smart business. Didn’t mean much since he was fighting Bradley at Welterweight. Vargas will stay at welterweight and they expect him to get stronger at the weight.

GGG has lost his reputation as fearless and willing to fight anyone. Team GGG won’t go to 168 to fight Ward, even if both teams split the purse evenly. Team GGG will only accept the fight if it’s no higher than 164 pounds. Quite a joke. And it’s not how a star who needs a breakthrough opponent to achieve legitimacy should be acting.
